Testimony

by Elder Heath Madsen

The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been a very large part of my life, but perhaps the most profound influence I've had is to serve a mission and see the gospel in effect. From primary to high school I was always told that the gospel is true and that we need it, but I never understood how real that statement was until I started to serve the Lord in the "outside world". All of the confusion and pride the world has is really easy to understand. A world with no God or many Gods is a pretty confused world. When we understand about our Heavenly Father¡¦s plan and the simplicity of the plan it puts all things into perspective and then we can understand the mysteries of life. The questions of who are we?, Where are we from?, What¡¦s the purpose of living?, and After we die what¡¦s next?, have always made me think. In high school I had a few good friends that were killed in car accidents. I remember this making many people sad and depressed. It was a sad thing to lose those friends but that¡¦s the wonderful thing about the gospel. The plan is set forth and if we do good we know where we are going and there is nothing to be afraid of. The gospel of Jesus Christ is real and gives me a great hope for the future. Only through reading the scriptures and praying can we know if it is true or not. I know one thing is for sure, God does answer prayers.
